Karen Astrachan has been designing jewelry since January of 2004 and is rapidly becoming known for collections that add sparkle and glamour, day or night. Her designs add elegance and style to the woman on the go as well as the celebrity gracing the red carpet. Karen created a line of casual earring jackets that she trademarked with the name Stud Changers®. As a result of the many requests by private clients, Karen recently designed an elegant bridal line for brides and bridesmaids.
Karen was asked to design a Spring 2006 Collection for couture designer Kevan Hall and a collection for the characters of the third season of the Showtime series “The L Word.” Karen Astrachan’s designs are popular with media figures and celebrities, including Paula Zahn, Kimberly Elise, Jennifer Beals, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Portia de Rossi, CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien and ABC anchor Robin Roberts.
From her studio in Connecticut, Karen gets her design inspiration from the worlds of art, fashion and music. She approaches each design like a musical composition, with its own rhythms, accents and tones. She is a graduate of Yale University and the Boston College School of Law, and she is a classical pianist who continues to perform at various events.
Many stylists and designers have taken advantage of the special attention that Karen gives to every client. She creates one-of-a-kind designs for special events and occasions, such as wedding parties and publicity shoots, and brings her unique eye to satisfying the distinct needs of custom attire.
Karen’s designs can be seen in the January issues of Wedding Dresses Magazine, Iona Magazine and TV Guide.
